Anti-Immigrant Tancredo Takes on Sotomayor, Calls NCLR the Latino KKK Without the Hoods
The anti-immigrant crowd just can't seem to stop attacking the President's Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, on the topic of race. In, "Media Matters' Boehlert goes head-to-head with Tancredo over Sotomayor on CNN," Media Matters exposes the out-of-touch sentiments and statements of the anti-immigrant movement's biggest national hero, Tom Tancredo. Tancredo calls the President's nominee a "racist" and the largest latino civil rights organization in the United States, NCLR, a quote-unquote:
...Latino KKK without the hoods or the nooses.
Just like the NAACP is the hoodless Black KKK, right Tancredo? Clearly these guys are just militant, racist, murderers, minus the sheets.
Watch it:
As Boehlert points out, it is unclear to begin with why the former Republican Presidential Candidate and Congressman felt compelled to damn a comment by Sotomayor, made eight years ago, in which she says that her life experience has made her a better judge. It is peculiar, as blogger Jed Lewison points out, that another Supreme Court Justice, Judge Alito, made a very similar, if not more direct, case without so much as a peep from Tancredo, Krikorian, or any of the other heads of the Anti-Immigrant Lobby: As Lewison notes:
Alito said that his family's experience as immigrants influenced his outlook on immigration cases.
It's clear that immigration hardliners just can't seem to stop attacking Judge Sotomayor, the President's nominee for the highest court in the United States, on race.
What's not clear is how this helps their cause one bit.

UPDATE: Tancredo's KKK attack on NCLR is all over The Politico, Think Progress, Huffington Post, Talking Points Memo, Daily Kos, the Colorado Independent, and more.
On Crooks and Liars' Third Branch, Dave Meyer argues:
Mel Martinez should join Senator McCain in denouncing Tancredo. Less than three months ago, Martinez prominently accepted a Capital Award from NCLR in recognition of his "outstanding support of public policies that are vital to Hispanic Americans."
Somebody has to take a stand, speak the truth about an organization whose mission is to "improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans," and repair the GOP brand with Latinos, that's for sure. Michael Steele, maybe?

Tancredo: Your ignorant accusation that La Raza is the KKK of Latinos shows just how
stupid and mean you are. YOU sound like a KKK idiot. Methinks you protest too much. Why are you ashamed of your own roots? La Raza has done so many good things to support children and young people in encouraging their continued education, and their continuation of hard work to achieve the “American Dream.”

La Raza a KKK organization, OMG, it shows some will spew nonsense and not give a darn whether there is any truth to their nonsense. Sotomayor is only a racist to those that are can not see a Hispanic or African American president elected and in office. This man (Tancredo)is the racist and thank you Tancredo for showing the Cuban community were they stand in the Republican party. Awesome, so great you did me the favor.

In case you have never seen the supreme court icon (the statue of the scale with a blindfold), it was made to show that justice is impartial and objective. If we let our experiences bias our decision, law goes away. Tancredo is right…Justices should rule on the LAW not their experiences. The fact that Sotomayor made the Latino statement (in context or out) says that she is always going to rule in favor of the Latino minorities rather than the LAW. Whether you’re white or not it should bother you.. Once again you liberals fail to get the Point!!!!

I’ve noticed more than a little bit of group racism and Mexican insolence and nationalism in California. Any race that has no absolute morals that apply to all races is by definition racist. La Raza “The Race” believes and teaches that Hispanics have “rights” above other races. It is a form of Marxist idealogy, liberation theology, and some social charity.
If you really believe that La Raza is worthy I hope you Hispanics clean the corruption out of it. I an Anglo could go to Mexico city and be a social pain in the rear to your society by cheating you of what you work to earn, by spreading litter and graffiti everywhere, by forming gangs, by teaching racist preferences, and by claiming to be moral all the while being ignorant and blind to what I was doing.
The problem is your society envies and covets and then yells “racist” to anyone who exposes your society’s evil behaviors and attitudes in an effort to protect the common good for all races. Not all Hispanics are immoral. But the majority are tribalistic and based on that have no respect for any other races. The only thing I’ve seen Hispanics respect is force. It may very well come their way. They have pissed of enough people for years that a good social cleansing may come to permanently deal with “La Raza”

Tom Tancredo, the immigration-crazed congressman from Colorado, is never going to be the Republican nominee for president.
