The Administration responded to the call for administrative action with significant changes that, if implemented fully and fairly, will focus immigration enforcement on the worst of the worst, not the best and the brightest.

Alberto Yanez -- father of three American citizens, brother of two American citizens, and a passionate DREAMer -- saw major breakthrough when he was granted a one year stay of deportation through January of next year.

Alberto Yanez is a hard-working student, a committed young father, and an ambitious DREAMer. He came to the United States from Mexico in 1988 when he was just a year old. Raised in California, Yanez moved to Washington with his family after his junior year in high school. He has been living there ever since.

Last week, just hours before Mandeep and her mother were scheduled to be deported to India, we learned that immigration officials changed their minds and canceled the deportation. At the last minute, she was given a one year stay of deportation. This was no doubt thank to the thousands of supporters who took action to keep her at home in California.

One day after the Senate held its first-ever hearing on the DREAM Act, DREAMers, activists, and allies descended on the Capitol again to stage a special graduation ceremony for the "Deportation Class of 2011." Hundreds of DREAMers from all over the country, born in all different parts of the world, roamed around the historic Kennedy Caucus Room wearing all different colors and styles of gowns.
