Updated Race Analysis, Polling, and Interactive Map Offer Three Ways to Grasp the Power of the Latino, Asian, and Naturalized Citizen Vote in the Upcoming Elections

Today, America’s Voice releases updated analysis and polling that highlights the crucial role Latino, Asian, and other voters who care about common sense immigration reform will play in next week’s federal elections.  In addition, an interactive map from Latino Decisions and America’s Voice Education Fund reveals how changes in Latino vote turnout and candidate selection can impact the presidential elections.  The map and other resources have been updated using the latest polling information and analysis.

The Races to Watch documents review candidates’ positions on immigration reform in fifteen House and six Senate races where Latino, Asian, and naturalized citizen voters could prove decisive in these elections.  They have been updated with recent Cook Political Report ratings which show, for example, a tightening in the Arizona U.S. Senate race and certain U.S. House races.  The outcome of these close congressional and Senate races will mean the difference between sending another supporter of immigration reform to Congress, or another opponent.  That is why it’s so important for all voters who care about immigrants and common sense immigration reform to make their voices heard this November.         

The polling, from Latino Decisions, aggregates previously released data into a “combined battleground” snapshot of Latino voters’ opinions on the candidates and role of immigration in their political choices.  The surveys of 2,400 Latino registered voters were conducted in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, and Virginia between September 22nd and October 11th, 2012.  Video and other resources from America’s Voice/Latino Decisions panel events held in all six states are also available here.

The interactive map, first released in June, has been consistently updated with Latino Decisions polling data so that political junkies can view how fluctuations in the Latino vote could change the election outcome using the best available data.
