WEEKEND PHOTOS: Immigration Reform Summer Continues

Share This:

It’s Monday, which means that another weekend has just gone by in which immigration reform advocates all over the country turned out to make their voices heard in favor of immigration reform.  We’re square into August recess now–the time of year when legislators go home to meet with constituents, and voters have a built-in opportunity to let Congress know what their priorities are.  You can learn more about reaching your Member of Congress during this August recess here.  You can also view our previous photoblogs and report-backs from local events here.

Below is a roundup of what happened around the country this weekend on immigration reform.  Today, Mi Familia Vota Florida asked small business owners to show their support for immigration reform by tweeting in pictures of their licenses and storefronts:

On Saturday, advocates with the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition rallied in Greeley, Colorado to pressure Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO) on immigration reform and citizenship:

In New York on Friday, Rep. Michael Grimm showed up at the Arab Bazaar 2013, where a diverse group of immigrants and advocates made it known what they wanted his support for.  The group Make the Road New York also met with Grimm’s office staff in New Dorp.

Also watch Rep. Grimm talking to a New York DREAMer about immigration reform and his support of it:

In Arizona, Rep. Steve Pearce (R-AZ) himself tweeted about the turnout at his Portales town hall, where immigrants asked him to help keep their families together:

In California, activists readied for this week’s Caravan 4 Citizenship by calling on GOP Whip Kevin McCarthy to support immigration reform:

And on Saturday, Mi Familia Vota in Nevada used a Let’s Move event to talk to people about immigration reform and citizenship.
