‘Qué Pasa’ in Immigration: Backlash Against Arizona; 1070’s Economic Impact

The Spanish-language press continues to write editorials and op-ed columns attacking the newly-passed Arizona state law SB 1070, which criminalizes undocumented immigrants, joining the outcry of the international community. Other outlets explore the economic impact of the law on the state.

Backlash against Arizona. El Diario-La Prensa (New York) titles its editorial “It’s not about immigration, it’s racial profiling”. El Diario La Estrella (Dallas) prints a column by labor leader Eliseo Medina of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) under the headline “Jan Brewer lets us down”.
